Playposals
Want to be a play leader at the Playposium. You’ve come to the right place.
While the Professors at Play network takes education and scholarship seriously, we also like to have fun. And as far as we can tell, it would be almost criminal to hold an event dedicated to more playful teaching in our schools, colleges and universities without having some fun ourselves.
Let’s call it “authentic, playful scholarly activity”.
Haven’t scared you off yet? Good! Keep reading. You’re the kind of presenter we want to hear from.
First off, the date of the Playposium is Friday November 6th, from 8-4pm MST. But don’t worry, if you have a proposal for a presentation you can record, we have an option for that too.
- Roundtable imponderables: Groups solving hard problems or processing experiences with play in HE
- Grab and go content: Collections of ready to use ideas, strategies and techniques. Stuff ready for the group to apply after the Playposium
- Play time: An interactive activity that we all do, online. Use it to demonstrate a technique or to set up a conversation
- Go for broke: Try out something new, taking a risk. What do we mean? Well, we don’t know, You have to come up with these great ideas.
- Hands in the mud: Software and technique demos. Like show and tell, but for tools or more complex techniques that you want to share so others can learn them and use them
- Mind-blowing findings: Research bites and how findings inform action. Why research if it doesn’t change the world, at least a little. Break us down and tell us how it matters
- “Poster” session: Anything you can post and share online, asynchronously. A song, a manuscript, a drawing, an animated special, a video a lecture, a dance. Really, you make it, we’ll post it
- Sandbox Hour: One hour drop in sessions to do with as you choose. This will be a lunch time open house with drop in and drop out participants
- Boring old lecture: Well, we got to at least offer, right?
Ready to get started. Just fill out our short and sweet Playposium Playposal Form by September 18th (extended to Friday, Septermber 25th!) and we will get in touch on or before the first week of October with a response.
